This pair of Magdeburg hemispheres is a convenient way to demonstrate the power of atmospheric pressure and vacuum. You get two rubber Magdeburg hemispheres about 3″ in diameter. Press them together to evacuate the air and form a vacuum between them. Then try to pull them apart.
